I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, mentoring students and residents, and exploring new ideas in healthcare innovation and medical education. I also enjoy attending professional conferences, networking with colleagues, and staying active through outdoor activities.
How would you describe your personality?
I would describe myself as curious, collaborative, and driven. I enjoy bringing people together to solve complex problems, whether in patient care, education, or healthcare leadership. I value lifelong learning, creativity, and maintaining a positive sense of humor.
What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine?
I have always been fascinated by the intersection of science, artistry, and service. Medicine offered an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives while continually learning and growing. Otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery were especially appealing because they combine complex problem-solving, technical precision, and the ability to improve both function and quality of life.
What are your favorite procedures or surgeries to perform?
After doing many procedures over my long career, the ones I enjoyed the most are the ones that make my patients the happiest.
What personal and/or professional goals are you currently pursuing?
Professionally, I am focused on advancing medical education, developing innovative interprofessional training models, and exploring responsible applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare education. I am also helping expand clinical training opportunities and physician practice initiatives. Personally, I strive to maintain balance, continue lifelong learning, and mentor the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Who has been the most influential mentor in your career?
I have been fortunate to learn from many outstanding mentors throughout my training and career. Rather than a single individual, I have been influenced by faculty, colleagues, and leaders who modeled excellence in patient care, surgical skill, education, and leadership. Their collective guidance has shaped my approach to medicine and academic leadership.
